Why This Site Exists
Fix the House Now started with a simple observation: the House of Representatives has been frozen at 435 seats since 1913, while the country grew from 92 million people to over 330 million. Nothing in the Constitution requires that number. Congress set it by ordinary law, and it can change it the same way.
This site tracks the case for shrinking congressional districts back down toward a size where people can actually reach their representative, along with the numbers, the arguments, and any real movement on it in Congress and the states.
What I’m asking for
Not money. This site isn’t set up to take donations, and it won’t ask for any until there’s a real organization behind it capable of handling money honestly and legally. If that day comes, it will be announced here plainly.
What this effort needs is people. Specifically, people willing to help make the case in their own state: sharing the numbers, contacting state legislators, and eventually helping organize others who want to do the same. If that’s you, the Get Involved page has a short form. No experience required, just a willingness to do something small and follow through on it.
Where this stands
Right now, this is one person’s project. It’s honest to say so. Whether it becomes more than that depends on whether the argument holds up and whether anyone reading this wants to help make it. The Tracker page will keep an honest account of what’s actually happening, not what I’d like to be happening.
